The Crown at Martley – A Celebration of Local Craft and Community
Earlier this year, we had the pleasure of working with the team at The Crown at Martley as part of their incredible renovation project that’s transformed the much-loved village pub into a standout dining and accommodation destination in the heart of Worcestershire.
For us at Witley Jones, this was about more than just furniture. It was about helping bring a local landmark back to life and creating spaces that feel warm, welcoming, and truly part of the community.
Working Together to Bring a Vision to Life
From the very start, this project was a real collaboration. The Crown’s team had a clear vision: to create a countryside retreat that blends comfort and character, all while celebrating local craftsmanship and produce.
We worked closely with them and other Worcestershire-based suppliers to design and build bespoke furniture that complemented that vision, furniture that didn’t just fill a space but helped shape the atmosphere.

Each of the six rooms — four doubles, one king-size, and a smaller guest room — was designed to feel distinctive, yet unified by a sense of calm and rural charm.
Design with Heart
We aimed to make every piece feel like it truly belonged. From floating bedside tables that add a light, modern touch to open wardrobes framed in dark steel and woodgrain, each design detail was selected to blend practicality with personality.
The result is something that feels natural — a blend of rustic warmth and contemporary comfort that fits perfectly with The Crown’s character.
A True Worcestershire Story
What makes The Crown so special is its deep connection to the local area. The team has built something that celebrates Worcestershire — not just through the food and drink they serve, but through the people and businesses they’ve chosen to work with.
By sourcing ingredients and craftsmanship locally, The Crown has become much more than a place to eat or stay. It’s a hub for the community, where locals and visitors alike can enjoy genuine hospitality in a setting that feels both familiar and fresh.
Being part of that story, alongside other local makers and suppliers, has been something we’re genuinely proud of.
The Finished Result
Today, The Crown stands as a shining example of what can happen when local passion meets quality craftsmanship. The newly refurbished bedrooms are stylish, inviting, and full of character — the perfect reflection of the venue’s countryside setting and community spirit.
For us, it’s been a joy to see our furniture play a small part in creating such a special place.
